We often get asked how to clean your crash helmet, there are many over priced products out there. In our experience the best thing to clean the shell of your helmet and visor is mild detergent washing up liquid and warm water (obviously try not to soak the inside of the helmet when doing this!). Then any good quality wax car polish is the best thing to apply to the shell.
